Halloween

So I love to dress up. This year as we were trying to decide what to be for halloween Mark suggested being old school baseball players. He got really excited about it. So I thought that if I found some cheap fabric that would work I would give it a try. This is how it came out...

It was actually a lot of fun to make them. I really like figuring things out, this gave me a chance to figure out sewing a little more. By the time I got to Mark's I was doing good ( I started with the kids) it took me quite a while to figure out how to do the front of the shirts. I did Isaac and Elsie's then stopped for a little while because I knew there had to be an easier way. So I thought about it for about a week then finally figured it out. Mark's mom came and helped me out with the last little bit. When I told her how I figured I would do it, she told me that was the easiest way and how most sewers did it. It took me a week to find out that if I actually knew how to sew it would have been so easy.

Also you see only 2 hats. Elsie's was small, Mark's was big... it wasn't worth finding a middle ground.

Here is Elsie trick or treating. We went before our halloween party. It was so fun, Elsie had a blast. We decided to go and were telling Ann and Kim. They thought it would be fun to go together. I am so glad. Elsie had much more fun that she would have with just us. So there is a puddle jumper, baseball player, Angel and Dash.

Here is Isaac after everything got over with his stash of candy. He stood there and played with it for about 1/2 hour. He knew exactly what was in it. What can I say... he is related to me?

Isaac is walking

Isaac started walking this month. He took his first real steps on the 1st. Here he is not cooperating with the camera. He took 6 steps in a row!
About 2 weeks later he finally started to really walk across the room. I tried to get some good pictures, but as you can tell with the pictures he was not wanting to walk. He wanted the camera.
He didn't get the camera.

Pumpkin Patch

Over fall break we went to the pumpkin patch. They also had a lot of fun activities for the kids. Here is Elsie going through the straw maze. Once she found the out, she turned around. She didn't want to finish yet. It was so cute.

It took a little bit of convincing to get Elsie on a pony though. She said at first she wanted to, so we bought the tickets, then she changed her mind because she got scared. So I walked next to her. The whole time she was like..."I'm done". I think she did like it though.

We got to ride on a trailer pulled by a tractor to the pumpkin patch. It was fun to be able to pick out which pumpkins we wanted. Elsie chose a funny looking one. Then we got a couple others perfect for carving.

Happy 1st birthday Isaac!

The big one! Isaac really likes his little people garage. He has been trying to say "truck", it is actually pretty close. So fun.
Isaac got to celebrate his birthday over a period of 3 days. His actual birthday we didn't do much. Mark was at school from about 7 till 5. I wasn't about to wake him up on his birthday... he would not have been happy about that. Then when Mark got home we went to our ward chili cookoff. So then next day we celebrated. It was also general conference so we didn't get to making the cake till later that day. By the time the cake came out of the oven it was bedtime. So I decorated it that night after the kids were in bed. The next day we did the cake.
I made a football cake for Isaac. I was feeling creative. He loves chocolate!
He actually dug into the cake. Elsie didn't really on her first. The cake didn't last long on his tray for long though. He started throwing it onto the floor. He likes to show us things, so here he is showing us his cake.

Elsie's first day of school

Elsie and her friends have a joy school now! She absolutely loves it. Every monday and wednesday she goes to one of her friends houses and the mom teaches. She has learned a lot about letter sounds and sharing and listening. I think it has been so good for the kids to get routine. I think it will save us this winter when they are about to go nuts shut up inside.

Late Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Mark and Elsie. It is so fun to have a combined birthday! They really do love it! Here is Elsie with her "big white and purple bike" as she likes to call it. I can't believe she is 3 now. And yes, Mark is getting old too... 26 wowsers. I feel like we actually are a real family now, with 2 kids who are getting older and able to communicate. It is a different feel than when Elsie was a baby. I don't know if anyone else can relate.

I got Mark a painting of the Logan LDS Temple. He loves it. He had an idea that he was going to get it and he was giddy about it. He was trying to find it online one night (he has been saying he wanted it since he saw it in Utah in March) then left for scouts. I got online and called a couple of stores to see if they had the one he wanted, found it, and bought it. They weren't able to ship it from the store so I had Mark's mom pick it up and send it. Mark had tried calling me a couple times when I was online because he had ran to the store for me after scouts. I didn't answer because I was buying it at the time. Mark was frustrated when he got home because he thought our phone was broken. I told him I just didn't pick up his calls. He couldn't understand. Finally I was like... I was doing something for you.... He felt dumb. From the excited look on my face he guessed that I had bought the picture. It was mostly confirmed when we got a package in the mail. I wouldn't tell him for sure though, so he was really giddy when he was opening it. I think that is the best gift I have gotten him.

Later that morning we went outside and let Elsie ride her new bike. Her friends pulled out their bikes too. It was so cute! You can't tell here, but when they were lined up like this they looked like the verizon lines.

I think this is my favorite part of their birthday. Them blowing the candles out together! Mark insists on having his own cake, so I split it into 2 small cakes (otherwise Mark would eat 2 full cakes by himself... not a good idea). We had some friends over to share the cake and icecream. To top it off, it was a fun day!
